Yin Yoga is a profound healing practice that blends the principles of Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Taoism to nourish both body and mind. This unique approach focuses on the body’s connective tissues, known as fascia, to facilitate the movement of energy throughout the body. In my classes, postures are typically performed on the ground, using props as needed, and held for 2-5 minutes. Between each hold, we incorporate The Rebound, allowing the body to "bounce back" through either movement (yang), stillness (yin), or a combination of both. This dynamic enhances our ability to create a communication channel within the body, promoting healing and overall well-being.
My classes are deeply rooted in the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Five Elements—water, wood, fire, earth, and metal—which reflect the natural world and correspond to the changing seasons: winter, spring, summer, late summer, and fall. The theory of the Five Elements emphasizes the importance of observing nature's patterns, illustrating how the flow between seasons fosters balance and harmony.
Through thoughtfully sequenced postures, yogic breathing techniques, and sound meditation, we facilitate the movement of energy throughout the body’s energetic systems. This practice can evoke a range of emotions, providing a rich space for personal growth and exploration amidst stillness. Together, we embody the elements, seasons, and the rhythms of nature, inviting you to connect more deeply with yourself and the world around you.
Classes are for all abilities-beginners are welcome! I firmly believe in body awareness over rigid alignment rules, you have full autonomy over your body in my space XOXO
