Yin is a healing practice that blends Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Taoism to nourish the body and mind. It focuses on the connective tissues, called fascia, to move energy throughout the body. The postures, typically done on the ground with or without props, are held for 2-5 minutes. In between holds, The Rebound allows the body to "bounce back" through movement (yang) or stillness (yin) or both. This practice helps create a communication channel throughout the body, promoting healing and overall well-being.
My classes incorporate Traditional Chinese Medicine's five elements - water, wood, fire, earth, and metal - reflecting the natural world. These elements correspond to the seasons - winter, spring, summer, late summer, and fall. The theory of the 5 Elements is rooted in observing nature's patterns and emphasizes that the flow between seasons fosters balance and harmony while constantly moving.
The postures, yogic breathing, and sound meditation help to move energy throughout the body's energetic systems. This practice can evoke various emotions, allowing for personal growth and exploration in a space of stillness. We embody the elements, seasons, and nature.
